My 1984 Olds Cutlass

traffic_light.gif

This is the story of my 1984 Olds Cutlass Supreme. I bought it just out of high school off of a used car lot. It came with the lame 3.8 liter V-6 and quite a few options. It has the pillow interior with 60/40 front bench(very comfortable for road trips), working A/C, a decent stereo for mid 80's OEM, and those lovely simulated wire wheel full wheel covers. Follow along as I try to turn it into a decent street machine.

I got my Cutlass back in the fall of '96. It was just a 2bbl V-6. I thought it was the sharpest looking car of all the ones that I had gone to look at, so I figured I could overlook how slow it was. It wasn't long and I found myself cursing what a slug it was, and what a fool I was for passing up 3 V-8 cars for this one.

It took a year and a half to finally blow up the 3.8 liter boat anchor. I started thinking about what was next for the blue beast. I could sell it as is and maybe make some of my money back, or put a motor in it. And if I was going to go through the trouble of putting a motor in, I might as well put a decent one in. Well, I decided to go ahead and build a V-8 for it. Next I had to decide which V-8. I could go the route that almost everyone I know goes and build a 350 Chevy, but that was kinda boring. The whole reason I bought a Cutlass was to be different. So it was decided I would build a Rocket.

Out comes the 3.8L V-6!!!!! It took me a year and a half to finally blow it up, and another year to finally yank it out of the cradle. But it looks like progress is finally being made!!!!!
